Issue: I installed a game that I guess had installed its own fonts. It didn't happen right away so I installed the same game on my Windows 8. So now in both systems Windows 7 and Windows 8. I looked at the HTML code to see what font s they were calling for. Besides the game and Windows updates those are the only changes made to both systems.

One of the sites that I have issues with is Facebook. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I have the same question 8. User Replied on May 24, Hi Thom, Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community. This issue could be due to change in font settings. To assist you better, provide the following information: 1.

What is the make and model of the Computer? Are you getting any error message? Refer to the below methods to resolve the issue.Today when I opened the Google Chrome web browser on my Windows desktop PC, I was greeted with an unusually large interface where everything looked zoomed-in, even the UI elements like tabs, the url bar, and bookmarks were way too large.

So then I had to spend the next several hours okay maybe it was more like several minutes but it felt like hours finding a way to get it to go back to normal. With the Chrome 54 update they made it so Chrome can detect the DPI setting on your computer so that the web browser will be scaled accordingly. I was glad to find a workaround to fix Chrome because the first option below is no good for me…. Right-click on the Google Chrome shortcut or start menu icon and select properties.

The same option on other programs works fine. I believe this works on all browsers, I know it works on Chrome and Firefox. True, and you can set the zoom level as a default for all websites but that does nothing for the huge UI elements.

I followed option 1 and it worked. How do I change the color to black. What a hassle this will be for thousands, if not millions, of people. Thanks, worked great! Every time Chrome comes up with a new update I always have to find a way to un-update it.

Still massive. I hate this. Technically, it was broken. DPI scaling is important. Great fix. And how the heck did you find the fix?

I found the fix mentioned in a comment on the Chrome Releases blog about the Key info found here compared to other places —-Make sure you unpin and pin any Chrome buttons you use to launch your browser. Once I unpinned and made a new pin, it worked. The second fix works but the interface becomes tiny, much like fixes for Firefox when it first began to honour DPI scaling. Thank you. Option 2 worked best for me. I thought I had done something unintentionally and have spent literally hours trying to fix this.

This is the right answer. Just use method 2 then unpin chrome from the bar or laung it from the location where it is installed. Thx a lot. Thanks, option 2 worked for me. Wasted lot of time in search for good solution. This is the best one so far. Many thanks!!!! This happened to me with Firefox last week and I fixed in a few seconds by going into the config. This information will be visible to anyone who visits or subscribes to notifications for this post.

Christopher Reed.Google Chrome has had an aggravating bug for quite a while now in which certain fonts, including some Google fonts, do not work correctly. There is, in fact, a quick fix for this. DirectWrite became a default option in Chrome in Chrome version For some users, no "switch" occurred for one or more reasons.

Mason in the comments mentions that DirectWrite is so deeply embedded in Chrome at this point that it is no longer an option to toggle one way or another on most systems. So what is there to do? I'll run through a few alternative options, though there is no assurance that these will address your particular problem.

The procedure for this solution is just like the one in the main post, except you're going after a different setting. In this case, you're looking for ignore-gpu-blacklistor as its heading calls it, "Override software rendering list. Set this to "enable.

If not, I suggest changing it back to disabled. The logic behind this is that previous efforts to tinker to fix this or other problems may have introduced the font rendering issue. For some users, this will take care of things. Remember to restart Chrome to see if the changes worked.

If you're using Windows, there is a chance that it has something to do with the OS settings.
